When Teach To Transform asked local pastors and leaders what kind of training they needed in their communities, a request came back for agriculture education. One hundred farmers came to a week’s training in crop management. The Lord blessed with the availability of a one-acre pilot plot at a nearby church to provide practical training. Each morning began and each evening closed with farmers giving praise to God. Farmers from nearby towns and villages participated in the training, and then took seeds and planted personal gardens, from which they periodically share the harvest. Sadly, some of the farmers that Teach to Transform trained have since died from ebola.
The people of the church took the responsibility for overseeing the one-acre pilot plot, and have developed a schedule for watering and cultivating the area necessary for sustainability.
